PORT OF LOS ANGELES TERMINAL ISLAND GRADE SEPARATION

STATUS: 40% CD
CLIENT: Port of Los Angeles

Terminal Island Grade Separation (TIGS) consists of designing and constructing a bridge that connects existing streets to Terminal Island Maritime Support Facility (TIMSF), a proposed Port of Los Angeles (POLA) facility for storing empty containers and chassis.

YKD led the landscape design in the area along the new road that connects existing roads to the new bridge. The landscape design is aimed at preventing erosion of slopes, providing visual interest for vehicles traveling in and out of TIMSF, and align with the existing planting design.

The plant palette emphasizes drought tolerant and California native plants to create a sustainable landscape. A combination of trees, shrubs, and groundcovers of different texture and flower colors provide visual interest throughout the year.

Currently, the project completed 40% CD set submittal and is waiting for comments from POLA.
