WALTER REED
MIDDLE SCHOOL
VOLUNTARY BARRIER
REMOVAL PROJECT
LOCATION: North Hollywood, CA
STATUS: 100% CD
CLIENT: Los Angeles Unified School District
The Walter Reed Middle School Voluntary Barrier Removal Project improves ADA accessibility throughout the school, including both interior spaces and exterior access. The project scope included regrading and renewing paving to meet the current ADA standards, adding new ramps at building entrances, and improving existing accessible ramps.
YKD provided planting and irrigation design for planters around the Administration Building, Science Building, Assembly Building, Agricultural Classroom, and Bungalows. YKD focused on restoring planting in areas disturbed by construction and ensuring the irrigation system remained functional and uninterrupted by new paving and ramp improvements. YKD’s landscape design carefully integrates existing and new planting with the accessibility improvements to enhance the aesthetic quality of the school’s outdoor spaces.
